I went to the Nature Conservancy website and got the carbon footprint for our household.
From the website, "... carbon footprint... estimates how many tons of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases your choices create each year."
The choices referred to above include basic lifestyle choices such as driving/commuting, appliances, food & diet, and recycling. See our household results in the graphic.

Penguin Classics' support of the Nature Conservancy's "Plant a Billion Trees" campaign, which launched in April, has now resulted in the planting of 335,322 trees to date, with every dollar donated to the conservancy helping to put more trees in the ground. The Conservancy's Plant a Billion Trees campaign supports efforts to restore and plant one billion native trees on 2.5 million acres and connect more than 12 million acres of new forest corridors in Brazil's Atlantic Forest by 2015. You can learn more about Plant a Billion Trees on the campaign's web site, www.plantabillion.org.

Life is too short to drink bad coffee. And life is also too precious to drink unsustainable coffee -- grown using pesticides and harvested by people around the world who aren't paid a fair, living wage for their work.

Forking over the green beans for concert tix isn't easy, especially with the pinch of steep gas prices, but here, in no particular order, are some eco-friendly and dollar-worthy tours.
